Obituary for James Michael Brundage

By Lene Caracas-Apuntar | | Feb 11, 2019

James (Jim) M. Brundage Age 76, passed away suddenly on February 6, 2019. He is the son of the late Anna and Earl Brundage. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Barta, children Kathleen (Brundage) LaVigne, Chris LaVigne (spouse), Christine (Brundage) Pietrzyk, Rich Pietrzyk (spouse), and four grandchildren Mason LaVigne, Madalyn LaVigne, Victor Pietrzyk, and Antonina Pietrzyk.

Born in Corning, New York, Jim graduated from Corning Northside High School in 1959. Soon after high school graduation Jim joined the Army and served as a medic in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1966 after being shot and wounded in the hand.

Jim moved to Kentucky in the late 1960s to attend Murray State University where he majored in Business. 1970 was an exciting year for Jim and Barta. They were married in April, and Jim graduated from college. He accepted a job in the Chicagoland area where he started his career with State Farm Insurance Company. In December 1970, they welcomed their first daughter Kathleen. Their second daughter Christine was born in 1974. Jim spent his entire career as a State Farm Insurance agent and retired in 2001.

You would often find Jim spending his free time bowling and playing golf. For the last 10 years Jim was the president of the Timber Pines and Friends Bowling League. He was a huge Chicago Bears fan and was a season ticket holder for over 40 years. Not a day would go by when Jim wasn’t seen wearing some form of Chicago Bears fan gear, usually a hat, favorite Chicago Bears socks, or driving his Chicago Bears golf cart.
